Up for sale, a 2021 EVO Bass B0101Z-4 Limited Edition in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original flight case and warranty card. Crafted in Japan, this rare bass was designed as an updated “evolution” of the Tokai Talbo (“Tokai Aluminum Body”) Bass, itself a unique piece of ‘70s Japanese guitar/bass production history. While the Talbo instruments were cast, the body of this EVO Bass was machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade A6061 aluminum alloy, and this bass is loaded with a pair of Aguilar’s DCB-D1 ceramic pickups and OBP-3 active electronics.
Tonally, aluminum is prized for its sustain and low-end resonance, making it ideal for a bass, and this B0101Z-4 weighs 9lbs 11oz, providing an ideal platform for the Aguilar DCB-D1 pickups. Featuring dual ceramic bar magnets, these pickups are designed for maximum detail and dynamism, potent and immediate with tons of bass richness on tap. There are a huge array of sounds achievable via the active electronics, with a three-band EQ (center detent boost/cut), two-way Midrange Emphasis 400/800Hz toggle, push-button killswitch, and a Blend knob to dial in an ideal ratio of bridge punch and neck breadth. This Evo Bass B0101Z-4 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, dialed in with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.
