Up for sale, a 2001 Ibanez John Scofield Signature model JSM100 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. An early model released in the first year of JSM100 production, this guitar was designed to replicate Scofield’s 1981 Ibanez AS200 which has been this jazz icon’s main guitar for decades.
Tonewoods include a bookmatched flame maple top and back and one-piece mahogany neck capped with an ebony fretboard, and this guitar has a resonant, lively acoustic character with snappy trebles and a sweetness and breadth afforded by the semi-hollowbody construction. The Super 58 humbuckers have a pristine clean tone; warm and airy, with a bit more low end roundness at the neck and a brighter, more aggressive bite at the bridge. While these cleans lend themselves to the sort of jazz playing that Scofield initially built his name on, they also take gain very well with a fat, creamy breakup. This JSM100 weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 11-49 flatwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
