Up for sale, a 2000 Epiphone ES-335 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the Terada factory in Japan, this rare pre-Elitist Epiphone was made exclusively for the Japanese market. Not to be confused with lesser “Dot” iterations, this guitar features the Epiphone Japan-exclusive open book headstock shape, holding its own against its USA-made contemporaries with exceptional fit and finish work.
Pairing the crisp attack of maple and the sweet, airy qualities of the semi-hollow body, the tonal range and detail of this guitar is excellent, and the original PAF-style humbuckers cover a broad spectrum. Cut, sparkle, growl, richness, and warmth are all on tap, and each position on the three-way toggle has a distinct tone. This ES-335 weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany, long tenon
-Shape: Medium C, measuring .845” 1st fret, .920” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, dot inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, no wear
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone (replacement)
-Headstock: “Open book” shape, “Gibson” truss rod cover
-Tuners: Gotoh
-Serialization: J00-prefix (Terada, 2000)
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple, maple centerblock
-Pickups: PAF-style humbucker x2
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: ABR-1 bridge (replacement), stopbar (nickel-plated)
-Plastics: Black bonnet knobs
The gloss Cherry finish shows only some light finish scratches, largely on the back (and shy of buckle rash). The neck profile is clean and smooth save for shallow dings.
A padded gigbag is included.
