Up for sale, a 1994 Gibson Gospel Anniversary Edition in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Originally produced from 1972-79, this unique Gibson square shoulder dreadnought is unique for its arched mahogany back and longer (25 ½”) scale length. Crafted at the Bozeman, MT factory, this particular iteration was produced in limited quantities to celebrate 100 years of Gibson production, featuring a solid spruce top, mahogany back/sides, soft V-shaped mahogany neck, and rosewood fingerboard.
Tonally, this Gospel is warm, sweet, and detailed, with a terrific balance of sonic depth and articulation. The soundboard is relaxed and worked-in, and there’s plenty of power on tap for big, well-defined strumming, with a responsiveness and sensitivity to note attack that works well for fingerpicking and more subdued applications. Weighing 4lbs 5oz, this Gospel Anniversary has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Soft V, measuring .870” 1st fret, .955” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, abalone dot inlays
-Frets: Slender, pristine
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1 3/4”
-Tuners: Gibson Deluxe double-line
-Serialization: Eight-digit stamp dates to ‘94
Body Specs:
-Wood: Spruce, mahogany
-Bracing: X, straight
-Bridge: Rosewood, compensated saddle
-Plastics: Tortoise pickguard
-Label: “100th Anniversary,” serialized
-Marquetry: Simple rosette, multi-ply binding (top)
The gloss Natural nitro lacquer finish has ambered around the soundhole and exhibits subtle checking on top. This is a very well-kept, crack-free example, with just a couple tiny scratches on top behind the bridge. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
