Up for sale, a 1990s Burny Super Grade RLG-75 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced under the umbrella of the Fernandes company in Japan, Burny has long been lauded for making some of the finest “lawsuit” LP instruments, with great adherence to vintage Gibson spec and premium fit and finish work. This rare, upper-tiered RLG was crafted as part of the Revival Series and is a non-catalog variant with a gloss Cherry Old Sunburst lacquer finish (presenting as a “Lemon Drop”).
Tonewoods include a mahogany body and carved maple top with a two-piece curly flame maple veneer, a one-piece mahogany neck with a chunky ‘50s-style carve, and a bound rosewood fretboard. Weighing 9lbs 1oz, this Burny offers rich sustain and a lively, detailed overarching quality faithfully captured by the stock pair of zebra bobbin VH-1 humbuckers. Known for their nuance, clarity, and dynamic response, the VH-1s are wound in the vein of a PAF. This Burny has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Chunky '50s-style C, measuring .880” 1st fret, .970” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood, 12” radius, pearl flared trapezoid inlay
-Frets: Medium jumbo, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5
-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Kluson-style, aged keystone buttons
Body Specs:
-Wood: Maple (bookmatched flame veneer, carved top), mahogany
-Pickups: Zebra bobbin VH-1 humbucker x2
-Harness: Noble 500K pots (one replacement, Bridge Volume)
-Controls: Volume x2, Tone x2, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Tune-o-matic bridge, stopbar (chrome-plated)
-Plastics: Gold bonnet knobs, yellowed pickup surrounds, amber switch tip
The lacquer “Cherry Old Sunburst” finish captures an diffused look, presenting much like a Lemon Drop, highlighting the curly flame figuring in the maple top. There are a handful of minor dings on the back and perimeter, with the top presently quite clean in comparison. The lacquer on the neck profile is flawless save for one shallow ding on the bass-side shoulder at fret 3 that is not distracting to the palm while fretting.
A gigbag is included.
