Up for sale, a 1990 Fender American Vintage ‘62 Jazz Bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original tweed hardshell case, all hangtags, and case candy. Crafted at Fender’s Corona, CA factory, this American Vintage series bass is a faithful reissue of the original circa 1960-62 Jazz Bass, boasting a stacked knob control configuration, gloss three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish, and vintage-spec hardware. This particular USA-made bass was ordered by Fender's Japanese distributor Yamano for sale in the Japanese market (with Yamano-specific hangtags).
Traditional tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fingerboard, and this Jazz Bass weighs 9lbs 9oz. The single coil pickups feature black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads, and Alnico pole pieces, yielding quintessential Jazz Bass burp, grind, and low-end heft. Things get particularly round and thumpy with the neck pickup favored and the Tone knobs dialed back to taste, and the pre-1962-style stacked knob control configuration enables a slightly broader degree of tonal sculpting than three-knob Jazz Bass examples. This American Vintage ‘62 Jazz Bass has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish shows some small dings along the lower bout perimeter, faint pick scuffing on top, buckle worming central to the back, and a handful of faint marks consistent with decades of careful usage. The nitro gloss on the neck profile has ambered dramatically and has a worn-in, easy-playing feel, with a few shallow nicks along the profile length that have no impact on playability.
The original tweed hardshell case is included, along with the case candy and Fender/Yamano hangtags.
