Up for sale, a 1987 ESP The Mirage Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced from 1987-92 as part of the Contemporary Series, this second iteration of ESP’s built-to-shred Superstrat features a contoured heel, Floyd Rose-licensed Sinclair tremolo, and HS pickup configuration.
This ESP features an alder body, maple neck, and bound ebony fingerboard, yielding a resonant acoustic platform with glassy treble detail and note attack. The replacement Seymour Duncan SHR-1N Hot Rails single coil-sized humbucker at the neck position is potent and powerful, featuring a blade pole design, with loads of midrange harmonics and an aggressive crunch ideal for full chords and thick, fluid melodic playing. The replacement bridge humbucker is essentially an overwound PAF, metering at 9.6k ohms, delivering the sweet treble growl and spongy warmth characteristic of that classic design with a touch more bite and heat. This Mirage Deluxe weighs 7lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, slinky action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender D, measuring .795” 1st fret, .880” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, 12” radius, offset mini-block inlay
-Frets: Jumbo, refret, pristine
-Scale Length: 25 ½”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, locking
-Tuners: Gotoh
Body Specs:
-Wood: Alder
-Pickups: Seymour Duncan SHR-1B Hot Rails (2023 dated sticker), Hot PAF-style humbucker (9.6k ohms)
-Harness: Full-size Japanese pots date to February/August, 1986
-Controls: Volume, Tone, Three-way pickup selector
-Hardware: Floyd Rose-licensed Sinclair tremolo, dome-top knurled knobs
The gloss Pearl White finish exhibits a few small chips along the perimeter and some small dings and light finish scratches on the body. The satin finish on the neck profile is smooth and clean.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
