Go to the shopUp for sale, a 1985 Gibson Les Paul Custom, complete with the original hardshell case. This Black Beauty Les Paul Custom hails from an increasingly desirable era of Gibson production, featuring traditional tonewoods and loaded with the original pair of Tim Shaw PAFs.
The guitar offers plenty of natural muscle, treble cut and sweet sustain, and at the heart of this Les Paul Custom are the Tim Shaw PAFs. These pickups represent Gibson's first attempt at recreating the magic of their late '50s humbucker design. Offered for only a few short years in the '80s, the Shaws are designed with unoriented, rough cast Alnico V magnets, plastic spacers, and poly-coated wire, achieving the harmonic complexity, power, and tonal clarity of the original PAF. This Les Paul Custom weighs 10lbs 8oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Ebony nitro lacquer finish is subtly muted in its appearance, with a few faint “tan lines” on top from stickers that have since been removed. There is buckle rash on the back and various dings and scuffs from use. The nitro gloss on the neck profile has a worn-in feel, with some palm wear through the gloss on the carve. The frets have fairly low crowns, and the neck is particularly fast-feeling. The back of the headstock is also stamped “2nd” for some small finish flaw indistinguishable after 40 years.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included.
