Up for sale, a 1981 Roland Vocoder SVC-350 rackmount effect in excellent condition and in perfect working order. First released in 1979, the SVC-350 is widely considered one of the finest vocoders ever produced, sharing much of its circuitry with Roland's VP-330.
Freshly serviced by Synapse Audio Systems, this SVC-350 benefits from fresh electrolytic caps as needed with a fully rebuilt power supply, converted for use at 120v. All sliders, knobs and jacks have been thoroughly cleaned, and all functions operate as intended.
This rackmount unit has a simple, user-friendly interface, with independent Microphone, Instrument, and Guitar inputs. The Microphone inputs (both 1/4” and XLR are present) are governed by a Level knob; the Instrument input has a three-way Level toggle, and the Guitar input has a Harmonics control. At the heart of the SVC-350 is the 11-band graphic EQ, shaping the distinctive robotic buzz inherent to the vocoder sound. Additional controls include a Direct Mic/Vocoder Balance knob and a Master Volume. The SVC-350 has an independent Headphones output and Phones Level control, with individual outputs for a Guitar Amp, and dual Vocal Amp A/A+B and B outputs, as well as a three-way Output Level toggle. There are also inputs for external Remotes, with Hold, Vocoder/Direct, and Ensemble control.
The rackmount enclosure is robustly built, with light wear on the handles and rack ears. All of the original knobs and sliders are present, and the graphics are notably clean on the faceplate. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to various scuffs on the enclosure.
