Up for sale, a 1976 Gibson L6-S Deluxe in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. The L6-S models are often credited as some of the most underrated solidbody guitars in Gibson’s history, and were the very first collaboration between Gibson and Bill Lawrence, who designed the “tarback” ceramic magnet Superhumbucker pickups used in these models. The body closely resembles a wider, thinner Les Paul, with a more generous Florentine cutaway, and this particular iteration is an L6-S Deluxe, boasting streamlined controls, string-through construction, and unique pentagonal pickup rings.
Featuring a maple body and neck capped with a 24-fret rosewood fretboard, the natural acoustic tone is cutting and punchy. The pair of "Tarback" Superhumbuckers feature ceramic magnet construction, coupled with the black epoxy that gave these pickups their name (and ensures great control over feedback with high gain by suppressing microphonics). Particularly potent with surprising twang and clarity at the bridge, the neck pickup in contrast has ample warmth and bass register kick. Lightweight at 6lbs 12oz, this L6-S Deluxe has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The Wine Red nitro lacquer finish shows buckle rash on the back and lighter wear through the gloss where the forearm crosses the top, with tight horizontal lacquer checking and some minor dings on the body as a whole. A different bridge was previously fitted, with the original bridge and threaded body inserts reinstalled. The nitro gloss on the neck profile exhibits light palm wear down to the bare maple on the shoulders.
The original Gibson black tolex hardshell case is included. The case has the Gibson silkscreen on the lid and functional latches. A handle is not installed, but both handle mounts are present.
