Up for sale, a 1972 Gibson SG II in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Only produced from 1972-76, this short-lived Gibson offering was introduced as a more affordable, entry-level SG, with features including a pair of mini humbuckers, an alder body, mahogany neck, and slab Indian rosewood fretboard.
The unusual Gibson tonewood complement yields a balanced, clear natural acoustic quality, and the mini humbuckers are punchy and full-sounding, with tight lows and sweet treble growl. The bridge pickup is epoxy potted like the larger “Tarbacks” of the era, snappy and bright and tailored for higher gain. The neck pickup has a much fuller, more open sound ideal for fat leads and articulate chording. Featherweight at 5lbs 13oz, this SG II has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
