Up for sale, a 1971 Fender Coronado II in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in custom color Sonic Blue nitro lacquer and complete with the original Victoria Luggage hardshell case. Hailing from the very end of the Coronado's production run, this rare custom color example has some of the model's most desirable features, with a Dynamic Vibrato tailpiece and Mustang-style bridge with barrel saddles.
This Coronado is featherweight at 6lbs 7oz with a fully hollow maple body, offering a rich acoustic bark and crisp note attack. The DeArmond-made single coils are sweet and detailed with a sparkling treble register. The bridge pickup has more upper midrange bite, while the neck pickup has a mellow percussive cut. This Coronado II has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Notable for being finished in nitro lacquer, despite Fender largely abandoning this practice in 1968, this Coronado’s original custom color Sonic Blue finish exhibits extensive tight and wavy lacquer checking across the body, with notable greening of the clear coat and some minor (stabilized) finish chipping along the back lower bout body edge and on the bass-side cutaway on top. The finish is otherwise notably well-kept, with a bit of strap-related wear to the left of the tailpiece hinge and zero buckle wear on the back. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Victoria Luggage-branded black tolex hardshell case is included.
