Up for sale, a 1969 Gibson SG Standard in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A transitional model produced early in ‘69 with no volute and no “Made in USA” stamp, this SG Standard is loaded with its stock pair of patent stickered T Top humbuckers.
Tonewoods include a mahogany body, three-piece mahogany neck and bound rosewood fingerboard, yielding ample natural warmth and a bold, clear natural acoustic quality. The patent sticker T-Top humbuckers are dynamic and detailed, balancing round lows, midrange bark, and sweet treble articulation. Featherweight at 6lbs 13oz, this SG Standard benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

Previously a stoptail conversion, the stoptail mounting holes have been retained and capped, and there’s a small mahogany plug on top just forward of the knobs where a mini toggle was removed, touched-up with lacquer and blended with the surrounding mahogany. The bridge pickup cover has also been resoldered, with a small cut corner of the baseplate for a phase reversal tap (removed, original windings retained). A different tuner set was also installed in the guitar’s lifetime, with no additional mounting holes and light “halos” from larger tuner bushings which were removed and restored to vintage spec.
The original Cherry nitro lacquer finish exhibits subtle horizontal checking, with minor buckle wear on the back and some small nicks and scuffs, largely along the lower bout body edge. The gloss on the neck profile is clean and smooth, free of palm wear with only a few shallow marks on the profile length.
A vintage (non-original) black tolex hardshell case is included.
