Up for sale, a 1965 Martin 00-18 in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a molded hardshell case. Receiving all the maintenance due a Martin of this vintage, the guitar boasts a professional neck reset, replacement carved bone nut, and bridge reglue, retaining the original maple bridge plate.

The sound is exceedingly balanced, clear and sweet-sounding, with equal presence afforded each string. Despite the stature of Martin’s “concert” body, projection is ample, and the low end is defined yet relaxed, with the lively, open quality afforded a spruce soundboard that’s been worked-in for decades. The trebles have a certain dry, airy quality, particularly sympathetic to fingerpicking, and the instrument’s overarching voicing offers a versatility for a broad range of genres and gigging/recording scenarios. This 00-18 weighs 3lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 bronze strings and easy-playing action.

-Scale Length: 24.9”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone (replacement)

Body Specs:

-Wood: Sitka spruce, Mahogany

The bridge reglue and additional work was executed by Portland Fretworks, and the bridge work necessitated grafting a small piece of rosewood to the bottom of the original bridge, as well as repairing some tear-out of the spruce beneath the bridge’s footprint, all work that’s essentially invisible to the eye. There are a couple professionally repaired splits on top, one behind the bridge just to the treble side of the center seam, and the typical “B string crack” between the pickguard and bridge.

The gloss nitro lacquer finish exhibits limited checking, and this Martin is notably well-kept, with a bit of pick wear across the soundhole, some minor marks on top, and similarly restrained wear on the mahogany back and rims. The neck profile is clean and smooth, free of palm wear.

A modern molded SKB hardshell case is included.
