Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Jaguar in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded “eyeglass” hardshell case, hangtag, strap, and catalog. Finished in custom color Candy Apple Red with gold-plated hardware, this Pre-CBS Jaguar has all the essential features of that era, including a Brazilian rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlay, mint green nitrate pickguard, and black bobbin pickups.

With a resonant alder body, this Jaguar has a particularly bold acoustic bark with plenty of natural low end. The staggered pole black bobbin single coil pair delivers the raw twang for which these coils are known. The neck pickup is thick and meaty, particularly broad and sweet with the Rhythm Circuit engaged, and the bridge pickup has great kick and thwack with a gutsy, round midrange response. This Jaguar weighs 8lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The original nitro lacquer Candy Apple Red finish is rich and dark, accented by the original suite of gold-plated hardware. The finish is 100% original with the exception of a 1 3/4 x 5/8” spot of touch-up along the lower bout body edge that has been nicely feathered in and buffed smooth, as well as two much smaller spots of touch-up, also on the body perimeter and only evident under blacklight. There is an area of light, concentrated buckle wear central to the back, a small area of forearm wear, a few small finish chips along the lower bout perimeter exposing the silver basecoat, and just a couple tiny dings on the body as a whole. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is nigh flawless.

The original “eyeglass” hardshell case is included, along with the original strap, hangtag and a 1963-’64 catalog (featuring an identical Jaguar on the cover).
