Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Jaguar in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A genuine Pre-CBS example hailing from the second year of the Jaguar's production run, this guitar sports the model’s introductory features including a pair of flush (unstaggered) pole alnico magnet black bobbin pickups.

As the top of the line Fender model when introduced in '62, the Jaguar has a particularly wide range of tones available to the player, living up to its reputation of being able to out-twang a Tele and deliver sparkling, glassy cleans like no other Fender can. Meatier and deeper-sounding than later Jaguar pickup winds, the black bobbin pickups produced pre-1964 offer a round, punchy quality with a chewy spank in the bridge position, while the neck pickup is thick and woody. The Low Cut two-way toggle and Rhythm Circuit make the signal notably brighter and fatter/darker, respectively. This Jaguar benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, dialed in with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer finish is indicative of some early burst on Jaguars, with a deeper ring of black along the body edges, bringing the burst in tighter on the center of the body. The finish is 100% original save for a small area of red overspray across one small finish chip just north of the bridge. There’s plenty of buckle rash on the back, various dings and scuffs, and two tiny mounting holes on the back from some unknown accessory. The top, by comparison, presents very cleanly. The gloss on the neck profile has been naturally worn to the smooth, bare maple through play.

A modern Fender black tolex hardshell case is included.
