Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Jazzmaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Produced in the second quarter of 1962, this Jazzmaster is an absolute showstopper with a Desert Sand basecoat, Olympic White color coat and no clear coat, a finish application only seen briefly circa 1961-63. With a Brazilian rosewood slab fretboard and matching Olympic White headstock, the date range this feature set was available narrows considerably, as the combination of a slab board and custom color-finished peghead was only offered for a few months in early ‘62.

Well-balanced on a strap and extremely acoustically lively at 8lbs 1oz, tonewoods comprise an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab Brazilian rosewood fretboard. The original pair of black bobbin pickups meter at 8k ohms in the neck position and 7.45k ohms at the bridge. These pickups have a bell-like sparkle and bounce in all three pickup positions, with a prevailing sweetness and percussiveness. The bridge pickup has a notable sponginess and chewy honk, with a harmonically complex midrange. With both pickups selected, the tone balances heft and spank, and the neck pickup is particularly rich and full-sounding, with a subtle growl when digging in hard and even more mellow thickness with the Rhythm Circuit engaged. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, where we specialize in Offset Fender guitars, this Jazzmaster features 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation.

As this guitar lacks a clear coat, the Olympic White color coats present very brightly, with various finish chips and spots of wear on the body perimeter revealing the Desert Sand base coat. There is minor buckle wear central to the back and some dings and scuffs from use. The neck profile is extremely smooth and inviting, with the gloss worn to the bare maple from contact with the palm.

The original brown tolex hardshell case with orange plush interior and brown leather ends is included. The original latches are functional and the handle is present.
