Up for sale, a 1958 Gibson ES-225TD in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original brown Lifton hardshell case. This well-kept ES-225 is 100% original save for a refret with vintage-spec medium jumbo fretwire.
One of the cooler and oft overlooked Gibson models of the '50s, the ES-225TD was the florentine cutaway precursor to the ES-330 (the model which would replace it in Gibson's lineup in late '59). With its fully hollow thinline maple body, Honduran mahogany neck and bound Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, this 225 delivers both the snappy note attack of maple as a tonewood and the warmth of the thinline hollowbody construction. The bridge pickup has a glassy quality, with rich bark when digging in, yet with notable clarity and chime. The neck position P-90 is sweet and woody, with a fat, velvety sound on the plain strings and focused cut on the wounds. The guitar is featherweight at 6lbs 1oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Honduran mahogany
-Shape: Chunky C, full shoulders, measuring .885” 1st fret, .980” 9th fret

-Scale Length: 24 3/4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, nylon

The gloss nitro lacquer Sunburst finish is 100% original, exhibiting subtle vertical checking. There is light buckle rash central to the back and some small dings and light finish scratches on the body. The neck profile exhibits a bit of palm wear and a few shallow marks, buffed smooth through use.
The original brown Lifton hardshell case is included; the handle is intact and all latches are functional.
