Up for sale, a Wrought Iron Leather & Effects The Numenorean Incandescent Modulator in like-new condition, complete with the original box. This (currently sold out) handcrafted pedal is an all-analog optical phase shifter with selectable 12, 8, or 6 phasing stages, with each stage powered by a discrete JFET transistor. Exceedingly versatile, musical, and dynamic, this The Numenorean was produced as part of Wrought Iron’s limited run The Artwork Series, boasting gorgeous custom artwork by James Martin inspired by the world of J.R.R. Tolkien, depicting the flight of Elendil from the drowning of Numenor.
The Numenorean does a remarkable job delivering a sonic profile that matches the sea-faring ways of its namesake people (and graphics), perfectly watery and vibey. Things get especially aquatic with the 12-stage circuit engaged, and depending on the settings, this pedal can serve as a univibe-esque chorus, phaser, flanger (at low speeds), or vibrato. To represent the downfall part of the drowning of Numenor, Wrought Iron added The Whelming footswitch which, when engaged, introduces 2 separate positive feedback paths, upping the gain and generally making the pedal a whole lot more chaotic and unpredictable with runaway oscillation and fuzz. Finally, the central insignia on Elendil’s sails lights up when the pedal is active (real Tolkien heads will know that Elendil’s emblem eventually becomes the flag of Gondor).
The circuit features 12 JFET phase shifting stages, with a JFET mixing stage, JFET preamp stage, and BJT post-modulation gain stage. Premium components include 1% tolerance metal film resistors, all WIMA film caps in the audio path, DeMont Smooth click stomp and Taiway switch/toggles, Switchcraft jacks, and a USA-made board. This pedal requires 18V power.
The original box is included.
