The Phat Phuk is a hybrid germanium/JFET single circuit boost, handmade in the USA. It’s not designed to be entirely transparent, unlike most boost pedals, instead delivering top end sheen and a bit of grit to the overall tone when cranked. The Phat Phuk features top notch componentry; the germanium transistors are hand-sorted,, and the FET transistor at the input helps keep the pedal impedance-friendly when it comes to active bass pickups, so it’s compatible with just about any bass put in front of it. The Phat Phuk can also function well for recording purposes as a preamp before going directly into the DAW, adding a bit of hair back to the tone and helping to avoid sterile bass sounds.
