Up for sale, a 2010s Tokai Heritage Series Love Rock Standard model TLS-1 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Made in Japan, tonewoods include a solid mahogany body with a bookmatched figured tiger maple veneer on the carved maple cap, and a mahogany neck with a bound rosewood fretboard.

Despite their "PAF" marketing, the MK2 humbuckers are akin to the higher gain pickup pairings of many of Gibson's modern LP Standards, and the bridge pickup meters at a whopping 14.1k ohms, while the neck pickup reads 9.2k. Each position on the three-way switch is distinct, with a rich, roaring quality at the bridge, and a bold, smooth neck pickup. The guitar weighs 9lbs 6oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece mahogany neck has a modestly chunky C-shaped profile carve, measuring .860” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius, with pearloid trapezoid inlay and flawless medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/6” in width, carved from bone to ensure optimal note clarity and sustain. The headstock sports the iconic “open book” shape, with Tokai inlay and gold Love Rock silkscreen script. The nickel-plated Rotomatic-style tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, and the back of the headstock retains the “Heritage Series” and “Made in Japan” text.

All the electronics work as intended, with the classic Les Paul/Love Rock control layout of a three-way pickup selector switch plus individual Volume and Tone knobs for each humbucker. The nickel-plated hardware all shines like new, including the ABR-1-style bridge and stopbar. Plastics comprise the one-ply pickguard, which has some scuffing along the sturm path, and the original quartet of ambered bonnet knobs. Two of the knobs have small superficial splits across the plastic that have no effect on performance.

The bold Cherry Sunburst finish highlights the tight, dimensional bookmatched figuring across the two-piece flame maple veneer, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a scant few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

A gigbag is included.
