Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a Tex Amps "Texosound" EF86 Mini in near-mint condition and in perfect working order. Based on the circuit of a Bell & Howell Filmosound projector amp (and the guitar-centric transformations pioneered by Canadian engineer Bernie Raunig), Tony Teixeira has taken this concept and outfitted the circuit both with an EF86 preamp tube and a host of top-tier components generally associated with the most revered British amps of yesteryear.

Tex Amps players are an enviable roster including Colin Cripps, Jeff Tweedy and Alex Lifeson, and this EF86 Mini features a compact cabinet covered in British Racing Green Rexine, loaded with a Celestion 10" G10N-40 speaker. Pushing 17 watts via a pair of cathode biased EL-84 power tubes, the EF86 Mini captures a very JMI era Vox-like set of tonalities. From touch-sensitive cleans to sizzling overdrive, the EF86 Mini offers plenty of tonal sculpting via the highly interactive Volume, Master and Tone knobs. As described by Tex Amps, the EF86 Mini is "the perfect home, gigging & travel touring amp."

The chassis features British-made Wima and Mullard/philips signal caps, military-grade switches and pots, a hand-punched point-to-point wired eyelet board, and custom-spec'd Heyboer transformers. The output transformer in particular is an exact replica of the transformer found on a Bell & Howell Model 399 Filmosound projector.
