Up for sale, a Strymon Volante Magnetic Echo Machine pedal in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original box and power supply. This versatile pedal effectively captures a range of vintage-sounding, atmospheric delay sounds, with three unique modes that are all equally expressive and dynamic, as well as a vast array of controls to sculpt and save the perfect setting for any situation. The Volante also features a Sound-on-Sound mode and a vintage Spring Reverb algorithm. The three modes are Drum Echo, Tape Echo, and Reel-to-Reel Studio Echo. Drum Echo captures the warmth and saturated harmonic richness inherent to the many tube stages present in genuine vintage examples; Tape Echo delivers multi-head tape echoes, including the smooth tape saturation and characteristic imperfections and nonlinearities found in vintage machines, down to hyper-specific irregularities including mechanical alignment, head wear, tape crinkles, splices, and contaminants, depending on user settings; Reel-to-Reel reproduces the high-fidelity machines of the ‘50s and ‘60s, offering the cleanest sound and able to sustain the highest quantity of repeats with ample full-bodied warmth and minimal degradation. The sheer scope of available sounds in the Volante is due to the Analog Devices SHARC ADSP-21375 processor powering the unit, which provides a 266 MHz core instruction rate and an impressive 1.596 gigaflops of peak performance, enabling Strymon’s processor-intense echo algorithms to run at full capacity without compromise. The Volante has MIDI functionality, with the ability to store up to 300 presets, but also has 8 in-unit preset storage slots easily accessed at the Favorite footswitch. It also has Tap Tempo functionality, as well as Reverse and Infinite repeats at the other two footswitches. The vast array of controls include Mechanics (imperfections and physical media irregularity recreation), Wear, Tape Head Spacing, individual selection and feedback control over the four “Tape Heads,” an independent Spring Reverb control, and control over Repeats and Speed, among other controls with functions specific to each mode. The Volante has Stereo In/Out functionality, and can be toggled between Instrument/Line In for usage with synths and/or mixers. Additionally, there is a jack for an expression pedal, which is also compatible with Strymon’s proprietary MultiSwitch Plus preset selection technology, and a micro-USB port.
