Up for sale, a Science Amplification Mother tube head in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original slip cover and matching 1x15 cabinet. Founded in 2009 in Olympia, WA, by Dreamdecay guitarist, Alex Gaziano, Science Amplification is a boutique company that specializes in handbuilt quality tube amplifiers. This early Mother Mk I shares a circuit similar to the tried and true Hiwatt Custom 200, equally geared for both bass and guitar, offering 200 watts of pure tube power and paired with a dual ported cabinet and 15“ speaker for megalithic, thunderous low end.

A single channel amp powered by a quartet of KT88 output tubes, the head features distinct Normal and Overdrive inputs and a flexible control panel. The Normal input excels at loud and clean tones, with a touch of bark when cranked, offering an ideal platform for effects due to its clean headroom. The Overdrive input employs the Drive control, and used in tandem with the Normal channel's Gain knob, the signal can range from mild crunch to high gain saturation.

The Tone section includes a 6-position rotary Depth knob that adjusts the overall bass extension and voice of the amplifier, paired with Bass, Middle, and Treble controls. The Bass sculpts the low voicing set with the Depth control, and the Mid control goes from completely scooped to focused and vocal. The Treble knob controls the crispness of the top end, with additional sculpting of the upper-harmonic content topped off via the Presence knob. Loudness controls the overall volume of the amp.

On the back panel, additional features include a Slave/Line Out with dedicated Level control to drive an additional amplifier or power amp and speaker cabinet. For extra protection, two additional fuses are provided for the output tubes with failure indicator lights. Not only do these add extra protection for your amplifier, but allow you to run on half power in case of a tube failure. The Mother also features an external bias test point and adjustment for each individual output tube to allow user bias monitoring, adjustment, and replacement of a single output tube if necessary.

Cosmetic wear is limited to light scuffs and marks mostly relegated to the edges of the speaker cabinet. The head and cabinet feature matching black tolex with silver sparkle accents. All of the graphics on the faceplate are minty, and the original knobs are intact.
