Up for sale, a 2014 Gibson ES-Les Paul in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original COA and hardshell case. Upgraded with a Bigsby B7 vibrato and Vibramate mounting hardware, the ES-Les Paul was crafted by Gibson Memphis, blending the familiar size and tonewood combination of a Les Paul with semi-hollow ES body construction. The guitar features a maple body, weight-relieved mahogany center block and spruce top bracing for an airy, yet crisp acoustic sound that has just enough low end presence.
An extension of the Burstbucker legacy, this guitar is loaded with a pair of MHS humbuckers. These Gibson Memphis exclusive low-wind PAFs feature unbalanced, scatterwound coils and a combination of Alnico II and Alnico III magnets, engineered specifically to compliment the inherent warmth and natural richness of Gibson's ES models. The bridge pickup has a sweet growl and harmonic complexity, with a smooth low end and treble snap, while the neck pickup is fat and clear, ideal for soloing and complex chord voicings. The guitar is featherweight at 7lbs, dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-48 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The one-piece mahogany neck has what Gibson describes as a "rounded C" shape which is shy of '50s depth but still has good shoulder and heft. The profile graduates from .830" deep at the 1st fret to .975" at the 12th, with rolled fretboard edges and stock slender fretwire on the bound rosewood fretboard. The frets are flawless, playing cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The peghead has added thickness for greater sustain and stability, and the guitar is fitted with stock Kluson Deluxe single line tuners with transparent keystone buttons.
All of the electronics function as intended, with a traditional Les Paul control array and nickel covered MHS humbuckers with PAF stickers on the baseplates. The hardware is notably clean including the ABR-1 and upgraded Bigsby B7 vibrato. The Bigsby mounts to the original stoptail posts via the Vibramate hardware, requiring no additional holes, and the original stoptail is also included. The maple top features a gloss nitro lacquer Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish, highlighting ripples of curly flame extending evenly across the top, contrasted with Walnut back and sides. The instrument is flawless save for a few faint marks in the clear coat of the gloss at the bass-side waist on the back.
The original brown tolex Gibson hardshell case is included along with the COA, factory paperwork, and original stoptail and mounting studs.
