Up for sale, a 2020 Gretsch G6131T Players Edition Jet FT in like new condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags, COA, and hardshell case. A souped up version of the Duo Jet with a few modern, player-friendly features, this Professional Series Gretsch has traditional tonewoods and a pair of Filter'Tron humbuckers.
Responding to players' need for increased comfort, the Jet FT features a lowered neck set that greatly improves fret-hand mobility while also giving the picking hand a closer approach, increasing comfort and accuracy. Gretsch's new full-access rolled cutaway and tapered heel allows effortless access to the highest registers of the fretboard without awkward pivoting or palm obstruction. And like its forebears, the Jet FT boasts a select mahogany body paired with a maple top, producing the signature strong, punchy response expected from a Gretsch Jet. For the Players Edition Jet FT, the body has a slightly more slender 1.85" depth along with modern chambering to deliver a tighter, more controlled attack that still retains incredible articulation.
The pair of High Sensitive Filter'Tron pickups complement the Jet FT's chambered body to produce a wide, balanced and transparent tone that is equally adept at cutting through a mix or laying a solid sonic foundation. Weighing 8lbs 1oz, we've had this Gretsch Jet professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The mahogany neck has what Gretsch describes as their "Standard U" neck profile carve, in reality a very easy-playing slender C shape with nicely rounded shoulders, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .950” at the 9th. The slab rosewood fretboard features a flat 12" radius, neo-classic thumbnail inlays, and medium jumbo fretwire that has a bit more meat than you'd expect on a vintage Gretsch. There is virtually no wear on the frets, which retain their full factory height and play cleanly up the neck with perfectly rounded crowns. The scale length measures 24.6" and the nut is a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Gotoh locking tuners function flawlessly and provide great tuning stability even with liberal vibrato use.
The Filter'Tron humbuckers feature independent Volume controls and a Master Tone knob, as well as a Master Volume on the treble side body horn and three-way pickup selector switch. The Gretsch “Squeezebox” paper-in-oil capacitors have a smooth character, while the treble bleed circuit lets your guitar retain all its tasty clarity when dialing back the Volume. The nickel hardware is nigh spotless on the pickup covers and ABR-1 bridge, working in concert with the USA-made B7CP string-thru Bigsby for surfy warbles and dives. There's barely a scratch on the Firebird Red gloss finish, and the original transparent protective plastic is still intact on the control cavity and switch covers, a testament to the sparingly little use this guitar has seen since new.
The original hardshell case, factory paperwork, and COA are included.
