Up for sale, a 1993 Fender Rosewood Telecaster '69 vintage reissue model TL69-145 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtag, and case candy. An exacting reissue of the rare Telecaster model made famous by George Harrison in the waning days of the Beatles, this non-catalog Order Made instrument was the highest possible tier available from Fender Japan in the golden age of "Made in Japan" production, boasting a satin nitro lacquer finish. And while advertised as a '69 reissue, the instrument has the chambered body construction associated with 1971-72 Rosewood Telecaster production. The natural acoustic tone of the instrument is lively, detailed and warm, channeled through the original single coil pair, delivering glassy cleans and smooth, articulate overdriven textures. The guitar weighs 8lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The rosewood neck has a slender, effortless C profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and just a hair more shoulder in the higher registers, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features flawless original slender fretwire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale length with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features a simple gold "Fender" decal (matching vintage spec) with genuine Schaller-made Fender "F" tuning machines. Of particular note, the details for this one-off Order Made instrument are handwritten in the neck pocket. These details are usually stamped, and only handwritten on the rarest, most unusual examples from Fujigen's special order range of Fender Japan instruments.
All of the electronics function as intended, with untouched solder joints and the original single coil pair wired to full-size pots which date to January of 1993. There is notable patina on the bridge base and barrel saddles, and pick scuffing across the three-ply black pickguard, yet the control plate and flat top knurled knobs are positively gleaming. The original satin nitro lacquer finish is nigh flawless with just a couple tiny nicks on the edges of the slab body. The neck profile finish is equally flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case with green plush interior and raised Fender logo on the exterior is included. This case is reserved only for Fender Japan's top tier models, and the guitar comes complete with the original Fender-branded cable and strap, as well as the original hangtag (with model details matching the neck pocket) and Fender manual.
