Up for sale, a 2018 Collings CL Deluxe Aged in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. A unique factory aged example with prominent checking and more muted nickel plating on the hardware, this Collings boasts a gloss Jet Black nitro lacquer finish. Crafted with the finest seasoned maple and Honduran mahogany, this City Limits Deluxe is exceedingly lightweight given its tonewood compliment at only 8lbs 2oz. The City Limits takes its inspiration from the Les Paul Standard and elevates the design, pairing lightweight, resonant Honduran mahogany with a carefully hand-set mortise and tenon neck joint and carved maple cap for rich tonal complexity and sustain.

This Collings is one of the finest USA-made boutique guitars available today, with an eye towards history and exacting standards for tone and modern playability. All woods are acclimated and hand-selected for density and acoustic response, and the guitar is extremely lively and resonant with ergonomic contouring at both sides of the waist, and a neck joint that's angled toward the cutaway, following the body lines. This CL Deluxe is loaded with Throbak DT-102 PAFs which are rich in double tones, featuring Alnico II magnets in the neck position and unoriented Alnico V magnets at the bridge, making for a particularly versatile set of PAF-style humbuckers. The bobbin windings are also extremely closely matched on this pair, resulting in a particularly sweet middle position on the three-way pickup selector toggle. This Collings has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar to ensure ideal intonation and playability with fresh 11-50 strings.

Every aspect of the CL Deluxe is dialed in to feel both familiar and elegant, and the neck profile has a round '50s C shape, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .967" at the 9th, providing an ideal handful that frets effortlessly. The ivoroid bound ebony fretboard boasts abalone parallelogram inlays with a 12" radius with a 24 7/8" scale length. The medium 18% nickel silver frets are practically perfect with well-rounded crowns. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features an ebony truss rod cover as well as an ebony veneer finished in high gloss nitro lacquer with Collings' distinct "haircut" shape on the top edge. The Collings-embossed nickel tuning machines feature aged ivoroid buttons.

Collings relies on Kluson for its high quality nickel-plated hardware including the ABR-1 bridge and corresponding stopbar tailpiece, and the electronics are rounded out by tightly spec'd Dimarzio pots, premium tone caps, and '50s-style wiring. The top is framed by ivoroid binding, and topped off with a quartet of aged black bonnet knobs

Collings prides themselves on meticulously hand sanding their finishes between coats for an ultra-thin high gloss result that's between .005 and .007 thousandths of an inch in final thickness, maximizing the acoustic response of the instrument while providing excellent protection. The Aged Jet Black finish features tight "shattered glass" lacquer checking, and cosmetic wear includes light, targeted buckle rash central to the back, some requisite pick scuffing across the guard, and a few additional minor scuffs and marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile has a smooth gloss finish with a few faint marks along the profile length.

The original Ameritage hardshell case is included, along with the original serialized warranty card, various factory paperwork, and extra set of black plastic back plates.
