Up for sale, a 2018 Collings 360 LT M Special in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. Cohesively marrying the best features of a Fender Jazzmaster and a Gibson Les Paul Special, the 360 LT M Special is the highest tier available for this model with gold-plated Mastery hardware and a factory Aged Jet Black nitro lacquer finish.
Collings offers some of the finest USA-made boutique guitars available today, with an eye towards history and exacting standards for tone and modern playability. The solid alder body is paired with a maple neck and slab rosewood fingerboard for a traditional Fender-esque tonewood foundation, complemented by two original Lollar Jazzmaster single coil pickups with Collings embossed black fiber flatwork. Each piece of alder is acclimated and hand-selected for density and acoustic response, and the guitar is extremely lively and resonant at 7lbs 6oz. The pickups are sparkling, clear, and particularly dynamic, offering more warmth than a traditional Fender-style coil and delivering both chewy snap and smooth, mellow silk with the twist of a Tone knob and flip of the pickup selector toggle. This Collings has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar to ensure ideal intonation and playability with 11-49 strings.
Every aspect of the 360 is dialed in to feel both familiar and elegant, and the neck profile has a full-feeling C-shaped carve with particularly round shoulders, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .967" at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard boasts a 12" radius with a 24 7/8" scale length and practically perfect medium 18% nickel silver frets with well-rounded crowns. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock features an anodized gold aluminum truss rod cover as well as an ebony veneer finished in high gloss nitro lacquer with Collings' distinct "haircut" shape on the top edge. The Collings-branded nickel Gotoh tuning machines feature ivoroid buttons and turn very smoothly.
The electronics function flawlessly, with the Lollar Jazzmaster pair wired to stock tightly spec'd Dimarzio pots. The Mastery hardware includes the M1 bridge and MV vibrato unit, both plated in 24k gold and offering unparalleled performance. The Mastery bridge features a pair of self lubricating hard chrome-plated brass saddles that ensure smooth vibrato action, optimal stability and ideal tonal transfer from the strings to the body. The MV vibrato is extremely responsive and expressive, actuating easily for everything from quick flutters to deep dives, reliably jumping back to the original pitch. An anodized gold pickguard and pair of gold bonnet knobs with lightly greened text round out the hardware and plastics.
Finished in an ultra thin nitro lacquer gloss Jet Black and factory aged, Collings prides themselves on meticulously hand sanding their finishes between coats. This results in a finish that's between .005 and .007 thousandths of an inch in final thickness, which maximizes the acoustic response of the instrument while providing excellent protection. The factory aging includes prominent lacquer checking and the oxidizing of the gold on the knobs, and cosmetic wear is limited to some minor dings across the body and a small spot of very faint buckle rash central to the back. The neck profile has a smooth gloss finish with just a couple exceedingly faint marks behind frets 2-3.
The original Ameritage hardshell case is included, along with the original factory paperwork.
