Up for sale, a 2020 Fender Swinger limited run offset electric guitar in like-new condition and perfect working order with a custom color Sonic Blue gloss finish. Complete with the original Fender-branded gigbag and hangtags, this model was made exclusively for the domestic Japanese market, already has been discontinued, and is rarely seen outside its country of origin.

A reintroduction of one of Fender's most obscure models for its 50th anniversary, the Swinger (also marketed as the Arrow and Musiclander) was the brainchild of Fender stringed instruments product manager Virgilio "Babe" Simoni who in 1969 was tasked by parent company CBS with finding a use for overstock Fender Bass V bodies. Radically reshaped from the original Bass V contours, the Swinger was fitted with a Musicmaster neck and boasted a unique Fender headstock carve that got straight to the point.

For this limited run reissue, Fender Japan reimagined the Swinger as a more versatile two-pickup instrument (the originals were a single pickup, neck position affair), and loaded it with the premium pickups and wiring harness of their upscale MG66 Mustang model. As such, at the heart of this Swinger is a pair of USA-made flat pole grey bobbin single coils wired to USA-made CTS pots. These pickups deliver plenty of quintessential Fender sparkle and cut, with a round, smooth bass register. Fender even went to the trouble of recreating the shorter, more rounded baton switch seen on Pre-CBS Duo Sonics. An extremely thoughtfully executed reissue that's significantly more versatile than the original and arguably more finely crafted due to the exquisite workmanship of Fender Japan, this Swinger is simply a stellar instrument. This Swinger is featherweight at 5lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a medium C profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .910" at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlays and flawless medium jumbo fretwire on the 24" scale. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally adjusted. The fretboard radius measures 7 1/4", and the nut has Fender's traditional 1 5/8" width. The headstock features Gotoh, Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should.

All of the electronics function as intended, with simple three-way pickup selector toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the grey bobbin pickup pair. The chrome-plated hardware and plastic parts are perfect (including the exceedingly accurate to vintage spec bridge with spiral saddles), and the clear protective factory plastic is intact on the dimensional white pearloid pickguard and black pickup covers. The guitar is showroom clean without a scratch on it, and the neck profile is flawless.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included, along with the original hangtags and optional "Swinger" decal.
