Up for sale, a 2001 Rickenbacker 360 in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, hangtag, and manual. Easily one of Rickenbacker's most desirable discontinued custom color finishes, this Turquoise-finished example is absolutely stunning. The guitar is also 100% original save for an upgraded set of Kluson-style Grover Deluxe tuning machines (original Schallers also included).
The semi-hollow maple body and neck through construction affords the 360 a certain sonic richness and immediacy, and it's no wonder that top players of the British Invasion and boom of the 1960s gravitated towards Rickenbacker for their top notch construction and tone. Equipped with stereo "Rick-o-Sound" functionality and boasting Rickenbacker's Hi-Gain single coils, the guitar has a sweet, sparkling sound. The tone has great warmth and nuance, and when you strum a chord with authority, the instrument has a clear, cutting quality, inherent in maple as a tonewood. The guitar balances well on a strap and weighs 7lbs 7oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Rickenbacker has low action and spot-on intonation.
The neck has a round, inviting C shaped profile with generous shoulder, filling the palm comfortably and fretting easily. The profile measures .945" at the 1st and 12th frets. The gloss-finished bound rosewood fretboard boasts triangular pearl inlays, and the original slender frets are intact, showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-6. The guitar plays easily up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rods. The original nut is intact and measures 1 5/8". On the headstock, the vintage-style Grover Deluxe tuning machines work as they should and hold pitch well, with near perfect chrome plating. The original "Rickenbacker" truss rod cover/logo is also present.
All of the electronics function as intended, and everything is exactly how it was when the guitar left the Rickenbacker factory with untouched solder joints and pots which date to the 46th week of 2000, while the serial number on the jack plate definitively dates the instrument to March of 2001. The chrome "R" tailpiece and six saddle bridge with original cover is intact and the chrome plating is factory fresh. Cosmetically, this is truly a near mint instrument and the Turquoise gloss finish exhibits only a few light finish scratches on the back, with a bit of requisite pick scuffing across the dual-tiered pickguards. Clearly this instrument has spent most of its life in its case.
The original Rickenbacker plastic molded hardshell case is included. The case has one small crack on one corner, yet the case retains its original latches and handle and is a very presentable, sturdy tote. The original hangtag and manual are also included.
