Up for sale, a 1996 Fender Jaguar one-off custom-order model in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. One of the last Fenders produced at the Fujigen factory in Japan as part of their "Order Made" program, this is an utterly unique instrument featuring factory Jazzmaster pickup routing, original USA-made Seymour Duncan pickups, a Tune-o-Matic ABR-1 bridge, and a three knob Lead Circuit control layout associated with Fender's Kurt Cobain models.
The black bobbin Seymour Duncan-made pickup pair has a traditional Jazzmaster wind with narrow bobbin spacing and windings all the way to the edges of the bobbins. The pickup cavities are shielded for an optimal noise floor, and the pickups deliver an array of bold, detailed Jazzmaster-style voicings. Each pickup has its own dedicated Volume knob, with the Jaguar's bass-cut "strangle" switch offering thinned out cut and sparkle. The Rhythm Circuit has a thicker, wooly sound exclusive to the neck pickup, perfect for thickening up your favorite fuzz or providing a bit of extra heft when needed. This alder-bodied Jaguar weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation, and 11-49 roundwound strings.
The maple neck has a slender, fast-feeling C profile carve with slight shoulders and only a hair more depth and roundness in the higher registers, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .905" at the 12th. The thick, dark rosewood fretboard features the original slender frets which are practically perfect with their full factory height and well-rounded crowns. The scale length measures 24", and the carved bone nut is 1 5/8" wide. The headstock features the Fender Jaguar logo and Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck heel is stamped Dec, 1996, with a K-prefix Order Made number stamped on the underside. Above the four-bolt neck plate, the guitar has a V-prefix serial number, consistent with the Fujigen-era serial sequences, despite the "Crafted in Japan" text (the "Japan" part of this text is inexplicably scuffed out).
The electronics function as intended, and it's worth restating that these pickups and controls are 100% original, with perfect factory Jazzmaster-sized pickup routes and factory shielding paint. The "tomato soup" tortoise pickguard is also factory routed for both the Jazzmaster pickup compliment and Tune-o-Matic ABR-1 bridge, which is the same bridge seen on Fujigen's Greco instruments, nickel-plated with the "Made in Japan" text on the underside mimicking Gibson's patent number bridge of the same design. The chrome hardware is gleaming, and the plastic parts are notably clean. Extremely well-kept, cosmetic wear on the Sunburst gloss finish is limited to a few dings central to the lower bout on the back, and just a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile gloss is smooth and virtually un-ambered.
A gigbag is included.
