2014 Fender Classic '60s Jazz Bass Vintage Reissue Model Fiesta Red, Japan MIJ

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 2014 Fender Classic 60s Jazz Bass in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. With a custom color Fiesta Red finish, this "Made in Japan" Jazz Bass is a discontinued model, rarely seen outside its country of origin. The bass features a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, yielding a balanced, smooth tonal platform for the pair of traditional single coil Jazz Bass pickups. The pickups deliver an articulate top end and sweet, pronounced midrange cut, as well as plenty of low end thump. Whether you want the more present bark and burp of the Jazz Bass' bridge pickup or the smoother, wider sounds of the neck pickup, this Jazz Bass covers a wide sonic spectrum. The bass weighs 8lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut, with lightly rolled fretboard edges, full shoulders and more heft further up the fretboard, measuring .805" at the 1st fret and .955" at the 12th. On the thick slab rosewood fretboard, the slender fretwire shows light wear on the crowns of frets 1-3, extending beneath the D string until fret 6. The bass plays easily in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius and 34" scale length, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2" in width. The headstock features chrome tuning machines with clover buttons, turning smoothly and holding pitch well.

All of the electronics work as intended, and the original hardware has particularly clean plating on the control plate and bridge base, with a touch of patina on the saddles. The Fiesta Red gloss finish is a very vintage correct shade, accented by a three-ply parchment pickguard which exhibits some requisite pick marks across the strings. Cosmetic wear is limited to some light scuffing in the clear coat of the gloss across the back, one decent ding at the treble side waist, and some smaller nicks along the lower bout body edge. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
