Up for sale, a 1995 Fender American Standard Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order. From a Limited Edition custom color run only offered in '95 with matching pegheads, this Strat is finished in Ocean Turquoise Metallic. The American Standard series has a reverence for the past and a host of modern, player-friendly features, boasting a 9 1/2" fretboard radius on the 22 fret maple fingerboard, medium jumbo fretwire, a two-point vibrato, Schaller-made locking tuning machines, and TBX tone control circuitry, all tweaks on the classic Strat platform that ensure optimal playability and tone. The trio of alnico magnet single coil pickups offer plenty of bite and articulation, and the neck pickup is particularly sparkling, with a round, bell-like tone that's perfect for lead work. Naturally, the five-way switch offers classic Strat quack in the 2 and 4 positions as well. The guitar balances well on a strap and weighs 8lbs. This Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and dialed in with 11-48 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C profile carve with modest shoulder, measuring .810” deep at the 1st fret and .865” at the 12th. The stock medium jumbo frets retain their full factory height and have well-rounded crowns and plenty of meat, showing light uniform wear primarily beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4, with fainter wear extending to fret 7. The nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock is fitted with an upgraded set of Fender-branded chrome Schaller-made locking tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well, perfectly matching the footprint of the original gears. The gloss Ocean Turquoise finish on the peghead exhibits just a couple small finish chips on the edges.
All of the original electronics work as they should, with untouched solder joints on the original CTS pots which date to the 14th week of '95. The TBX tone pot is a unique center detent design that enhances your tonal palette without the use of a battery. From 0-5, the TBX is a standard tone control, but from 5-10 the resistance decreases, allowing more bass, treble, presence and output to flow to your amp. The chrome plating on the hardware is positively gleaming, and the plastic parts show sparingly little aging. The two-point tremolo system has a very smooth and responsive feel, complete with bent steel saddles. The gloss Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish shows light scuffing on the back lower bout body edge and just beyond the belly carve, with a few additional scattered nicks on the body, mostly on the parameter. The neck profile has curly flame figuring extending the length of the neck, with a sliver of wear through the gloss on the treble side fretboard edge, and a few minor chips in the gloss on the fretboard edges as well, none impeding playability in the slightest.
An SKB molded hardshell case is included.
