Up for sale, a 2017 Fender Hybrid '50s Stratocaster in near mint condition and in perfect working order, with a few key upgrades including Schaller locking tuners, an LSR roller nut, and an anodized gold pickguard. One of the finest Strat iterations ever produced by Fender Japan, and a model not available in the USA market, the Hybrid '50s Stratocaster is simply stunning in its forward-thinking design and player-friendly features. The guitar features a transparent gloss Blonde finish over an ash body, USA-made Fender black bobbin pickups, USA-made CTS pots, a two-point vibrato unit, locking tuners, larger fretwire, a modern fretboard radius, and a silky smooth satin neck profile finish.
The perfect marriage of Vintage and Modern, the Hybrid '50 model is true to its name, yet the tonal range of the instrument is firmly in the Vintage camp. The black bobbin Fender USA 57/62 pickups feature staggered, beveled alnico magnets and cloth covered leads, with plenty of early Strat sparkle and spank, yielding a bell-like percussive snap. Via the five-way pickup selector toggle, there's plenty of sweet warmth and cut in the neck position and a thinned-out quack on the "in-between" settings. The ash and maple tonewood pairing yields a complex midrange character, sweet punch and articulate note attack, with the added treble zing and ideal noise floor attributable to the anodized gold pickguard. The instrument weighs 7lbs 12oz. We've had this Strat dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a chunky C profile carve with generous shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and .950" at the 12th. The satin-finished profile feels great on the palm, and the tall fretwire is factory fresh, playing cleanly in every register. The fretboard has a modern 9 1/2" radius, and the bone nut measures just shy of 1 11/16" (42.5mm) in width. The guitar features an upgraded LSR roller nut and Schaller-made, Fender-branded locking tuning machines, ensuring a particularly smooth vibrato response.
All of the electronics function flawlessly, with the Fender USA black bobbin pickups wired to USA-made full-size CTS pots and a five-way pickup selector switch. The hardware includes a modern two-point vibrato with flawless chrome plating, and the plastic parts include lightly aged pickup covers and knobs. The anodized aluminum pickguard accents the gloss Blonde finish which has a purple-ish tint. The guitar is showroom clean and professionally setup, rarely seen outside Japan and one of Fender's best Stratocaster iterations in decades.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
