Up for sale, 1981 Tokai Breezysound TE50-BLR electric guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Made in Japan, this vintage guitar is a faithful, high-quality spin on the classic Fender Tele platform. The traditional tonewood compliment includes an ash body, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard, delivering a balanced and smooth natural acoustic tone. The original single coil pickup pair delivers bold neck position snap, a chiming and focused sound with both pickups engaged, and a chewy twang at the bridge. Particularly lightweight at 7lbs 3oz, this Tokai has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and comfortable action.
The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve at the nut with modest shoulder and more heft and chunk as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The fretboard itself is partially scalloped from the 9th fret and beyond, with the scalloping of the board growing deeper in the higher registers. The rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark, tight-grained cut with a vintage-spec 7 1/4" fretboard radius, and the original slender frets that have ample crown and plenty of meat, playing cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. On the headstock, the Tokai logo is present in spaghetti-style script, and the original Deluxe-branded Kluson-style tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the stock electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the pickup pair. The body has a classic semi-transparent Butterscotch Blonde finish with the grain of the ask peeking through, accented by a three-ply white pickguard and matching white switch tip. The bridge has individual string saddles for optimal intonation, and the chrome plating on the hardware shows some requisite surface patina. Cosmetically, there are light finish scratches and nicks in the clear coat, mostly relegated to the lower bout body edge. The neck profile is particularly clean, with wear limited to just a few minuscule marks in the smooth gloss finish.
The original hardshell case is included.
