Up for sale, a 2019 Fender Hybrid '50s Telecaster in near mint condition and in perfect working order. This FSR (Factory Short Run) model features a now discontinued Sherwood Green gloss custom color finish. One of the finest Tele iterations ever produced by Fender Japan, and a model not available in the USA market, the Hybrid '50s Tele is simply stunning in its forward-thinking design and player-friendly features. The guitar features an ash body, '50s U-shaped neck profile carve, USA-made Fender Pure Vintage '58 Tele pickups, USA-made CTS pots, four-way series/parallel switching, brass saddles, a bone nut, taller fretwire, locking Kluson-style tuners, and a silky smooth satin neck profile finish.
The Pure Vintage '58 Fender pickups translate the guitar's ample acoustic properties into a vital palette of traditional Tele tones. With alnico V magnets, black fiber bobbins, a copper baseplate on the bridge pickup, and push-back cloth-covered leads, the pickups are extremely faithful to vintage spec. There's ample chewy twang and sparkle on tap in the bridge position, with a sweet, bell-like neck pickup and a very welcome 4th position on the blade switch, engaging both pickups in series for a particularly big and bold sound. The guitar is particularly lightweight at 7lbs 2oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings and low action.
The maple neck has a substantial U profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .875" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The frets have ample meat and crown, practically unplayed with zero wear. The carved bone nut is just fractionally shy of 1 11/16" in width (42.5mm), and the headstock features Kluson-style locking tuning machines.
The electronics function flawlessly, with full-size USA-made 250K CTS pots and a four-way pickup selector toggle governing the Fender Pure Vintage '58 Tele pickup pair (both pickups are engaged in series in the 4th switch position). The brass bridge saddles deliver ideal top end zing and twang, and the chrome hardware and plastic parts are nigh flawless. The pickguard has been upgraded with a Fender Pure Vintage USA one-ply white guard, and the original black pickguard is also included. There's barely a scratch on the body, save for a spot of isolated finish checking on the edge of the bass side upper bout, and the satin-finished neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
