Up for sale, a 1980's Tokai Hard Puncher electric bass guitar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This Tokai is an expertly crafted Japanese instrument, evoking everything we love about a classic Jazz Bass in terms of nut width and neck carve, paired with the PJ pickup configuration. A gloss red-finished iteration of the Hard Puncher with uncommon gold hardware, similar in features and tonal intent to the Fender-branded model Duff McKagan made famous with Guns N' Roses, there's a great range of tones available on this PJ. The Jazz bridge pickup has lots of growl and midrange character, and the Precision pickup has ample width and thump while still retaining some top end aggression, accentuated by a set of roundwound strings. Both pickups have oversized pole pieces that truly deliver a sound worthy of the instrument's slick '80s looks. The bass weighs 8lbs 14oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.

The maple neck neck has a medium C shaped profile with modest shoulder and a fast feel, measuring .865" deep at the 1st fret and .990" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features dot inlay and virtually flawless stock slender vintage-style fretwire. The bass plays cleanly in all registers with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. Conforming to traditional Jazz Bass specifications, the scale length is  34", and the nut measures an easily navigable 1 1/2" in width. The gloss black headstock features gold clover button tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. On the back of the neck, the original model 55 sticker is still present at the heel.

All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The hardware includes a trio of domed gold knurled knobs and a four saddle bridge with vintage-style spiral saddles. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few faint scuffs in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole, while the neck profile sports a pristine smooth black gloss finish.

A gigbag is included.
