Up for sale, a 2007 Fender American Vintage '62 Telecaster Custom in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and G&G hardshell case. A discontinued model boasting a rare custom color nitro lacquer Surf Green finish framed by cream top and back body binding, this Tele features an alder body, maple neck, and slab rosewood fretboard. The guitar delivers a big, ringing acoustic voice which translates well through the original pair of black bobbin single coil pickups. While the bridge pickup has a distinctive chewy twang and sparkle, the neck pickup has a silky smooth quality and bell-like chime. With both pickups engaged, the guitar has a clear percussive snap, equal parts cut and warmth and ideal for rhythm work. The guitar balances well on a strap and weighs 7lbs 11oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with 10-46 strings, this Tele is dialed in for optimal intonation and low action.
The maple neck has a slender C shape at the nut with modest shoulder, lightly rolled fretboard edges, and a hair more meat and roundness in the higher registers, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and 895" at the 12th. The frets retain their full factory height and are exceedingly clean, showing virtually no wear. The guitar plays well in all registers, and the neck is straight with ideal relief. The nut measures 1 5/8" in width. On the headstock, the original Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines are intact, along with the "Custom Telecaster" waterslide decal. The neck heel and pocket have all the correct factory stamps, and the truss rod nut is flush with the heel, essentially necessitating no adjustment over the past decade+.
All of the electronics function as intended with original black bobbin Fender single coils and CTS pots which date to the 40th week of 2007. The chrome hardware has ample shine, and the gloss nitro lacquer Surf Green finish is accented by a mint green pickguard which exhibits some requisite pick scuffing. There's a touch more of a blue tint to the lacquer which hasn't been exposed to UV light beneath the pickguard, and wear on the Surf green finish is limited to some extremely faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on top and a spot of very faint buckle rash central to the back. Beyond that there are just a couple minor marks and isolated spots of broad lacquer checking on the body as a whole, and the ambered nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth and free of palm wear.
The original brown tolex Fender G&G hardshell case is included, along with the original factory paperwork, hangtags, and "ashtray" bridge cover.
