Up for sale, a 1995 Ibanez PGM100 electric guitar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Ibanez gigbag. The original signature model for guitarist Paul Gilbert, this discontinued Ibanez was crafted at the famed Fujigen factory in Japan and features distinctive painted faux “F-holes” and the stock HSH array of DiMarzio pickups.
The neck and bridge positions feature Dimarzio PAF Pro humbuckers, specifically designed for chops-intensive playing and high gain amps. A transparent pickup with loads of presence and cut, the PAF Pro can easily slice through heavy processing, offering both snap and chunk in the lower frequencies with a spike in the midrange that produces a subtle cocked wah “aw” vowel sound. Treble response is tweaked to produce highs that stand out without getting brittle, with a singing, shred-worthy quality. In the middle position is an FS-1 single coil with Alnico V magnet construction, wound exceptionally hot with a smooth, beefy response, while the five-way selector switch offers a great selection of searing tones from the HSH array. The guitar weighs 7lbs 12oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, fast action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has Ibanez's Wizard profile, a particularly slender and fast-feeling C shape with good shoulder, measuring .700” deep at the 1st fret and .795” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features metallic shark fin inlay and pristine stock jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted truss rod and a 16“ fretboard radius. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the locking nut measures 1 11/16“ in width, holding tune exceptionally well against the most dynamic of dive bombs. The bound matching Jewel Blue headstock features a pink Ibanez logo and set of black Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly.
The simple electronics work as they should, with a single Master Volume control and a five-way selector switch discreetly placed within the treble side “F-hole” graphic. The black hardware shows light surface patina, while the pink pickup covers and Volume knob are clean as can be. The acclaimed original Edge system, licensed by Floyd Rose, functions very elegantly for deep dives and expressive gestures, and the locking system provides impressive tuning stability. The gloss metallic Jewel Blue finish is in great shape, complemented by hot pink faux “F-holes.” Cosmetic wear is limited to faint scuffing in the pick path, a small ding on the treble side lower bout edge, and a few requisite light scuffs and minuscule marks on the body as a whole, mostly clustered on the the bass side body horn and lower bout edge. The neck sports a pristine smooth semi gloss finish on the profile.
The original padded Ibanez gigbag is included.
