Up for sale, a 1989 Fernandes FST-50 The Function HSS S-Style electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan, this Superstrat features a contoured basswood body, one-piece maple neck, slab rosewood fretboard, and HSS pickup configuration. The Fernandes SH-2 bridge position humbucker is tailored for high gain, with a clear, punchy sound, and the ceramic magnet DS-1 single coils in the middle and neck positions have plenty of snap and cut, ensuring an articulate signal with great note attack in every position on the five-way blade swich. This Fernandes weighs 7lbs 12oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings and fast action.

The one-piece maple neck has a very slender, fast-feeling D-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .745” deep at the 1st fret and .860” at the 12th. The thick slab 22 fret rosewood fingerboard is a dark, tight-grained cut with a 9 1/2" radius, retaining the original flawless jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers with a straight neck and a responsive, ideally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 24 3/4", and the locking nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The Strat-style gloss Black-finished headstock features a gold Fernandes logo and black Gotoh tuning machines that turn smoothly, working in concert with the locking nut to ensure optimal tuning stability.

On the body, the electronics are stock and function as intended, with a five-way blade pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the HSS pickup array. The Body Crasher tremolo system responds well to deep dives and warbles. The black hardware is quite clean save for pick scuffing across the one-ply black pickguard, and the Fernandes gold silkscreen text on the pickup covers is flawless. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few minor nicks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, with a faint sticker outline on top on the treble side lower bout. The neck profile is flawless.
