Up for sale, a 1980's Morris MF-50 auditorium body acoustic guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case, factory paperwork, and optional tortoise pickguard. Crafted in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, the MF-50 is inspired by the classic 000-style auditorium body shape, featuring an X-braced spruce top, ovangkol body, bound ebony fretboard, ebony bridge, and nato neck. The instrument boasts a 15" lower bout width and full 4 1/8" body depth, offering  a snappy treble register and a nice low-mid warmth. A smooth-sounding strummer with a present, clear sound when played with authority, this Morris also has a balanced fingerpicked tone. Lightweight at 4lbs 5oz, this Morris has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh phosphor bronze 12-53 strings.

The nato neck is similar to mahogany in its tonal properties and reliability, with a fast-feeling C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder and limited increase in heft as you travel up the fingerboard, measuring .870” deep at the 1st fret and .925” at the 9th. The bound ebony fretboard features dot inlay and the original pristine slender fretwire. The guitar plays well in all registers up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is 24 7/8” and the nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. On the bound headstock, the Morris logo is inlaid vertically like a high-end Martin, and the Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

On the body, the ebony bridge sits flush with the top, and the saddle has modest height. The body is finished in gloss Black, with an abalone rosette and top binding, while the back features cream binding and an ornate center strip. Cosmetic wear includes light scuffing on the upper bout on the back, some small dings north of the soundhole on top, and some minor marks and pick scuffs on the treble side of the pick path. The neck sports a pristine black gloss finish on the profile.

The original hardshell case is included, along with the original hangtag, manual, and never-installed tortoise pickguard.
