Up for sale, a 2006 Fender '54 reissue Stratocaster model ST54-95LS in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A rare Fender Japan model produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this top-tier Strat features USA-made Lace Sensor Gold pickups and TBX mid-boost circuitry akin to Fender's Clapton Blackie model. A resonant and lively instrument, this alder-bodied Strat is the perfect tonal platform for the trio of USA-made Lace Sensor pickups. As the pickup that started it all for Lace, the Gold design features a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional guitar pickups, with the Gold design specifically engineered to deliver a '50s Strat bell like snap and chime. The guitar weighs 8lbs and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C profile carve with lots of shoulder in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .925" at the 12th. The guitar benefits from a recent refret with medium jumbo fretwire, showing just a touch of wear on the crowns beneath the G and B strings on frets 1-4 and virtually no wear further up the fingerboard. These frets are particularly round with ample height, offering effortless bending with notes that sing out clearly. The guitar conforms to traditional Fender specifications with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius, 25 1/2" scale, and 1 11/16" wide bone nut. The headstock features a '50s Strat logo and upgraded locking Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should, even with liberal use of the vibrato.
All of the electronics work as intended, with a five-way pickup selector toggle, Master Volume and Tone controls, and the second center detent Tone knob with true TBX Fender circuitry and a USA-made CTS stacked pot. This unique boost is powered by a 9V battery and is a more complex, fleshed-out TBX circuit than earlier Fender Japan iterations of this model. From 0-5, the TBX is a standard tone control, but from 5-10 the resistance decreases, allowing more bass, treble, presence and output to flow to your amp. The plastic parts and original, and the chrome hardware is clean aside from uniform patina across the bridge saddles. Wear on the Black gloss finish is limited to a few finish scratches and minor nicks, mostly relegated to the back, along with pick scuffing on the treble side of the guard. The neck profile is flawless.
This rare, upscale Fender Stratocaster combines the celebrated quality of Fender's domestic Japanese models with vintage-spec Fender features and USA pickups, and is the perfect instrument for purists and players looking for a unique spin on the Clapton Strat platform.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
