Up for sale, a 2013 Edwards by ESP E-ST-125ALR electric guitar in near mint condition and in perfect working order. Expertly crafted in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this quality take on the '62 Strat platform features a Burgundy Mist custom color gloss finish complete with matching headstock, alder body, one-piece hard maple neck, thick slab rosewood fretboard, and trio of USA-made Seymour Duncan SSL alnico magnet single coil pickups.
The SSL-1 pickups in the neck and middle positions use hand ground Alnico V rod magnets and heavy Formvar mag wire with a special wind pattern to produce that bright, glassy, bell tone with all of the bounce and sparkle you expect from the best '50s Strat pickups. The treble attack is crisp and immediate, the bass register remains articulate and focused, and chords ring out with clear note to note separation. The bridge position coil is a hotter Duncan SSL-3 with classic treble sparkle and a slightly lower-voiced, humbucker-like cut which makes chords sound explosive and solos stand out. The sound is warmer and hotter than a traditional Strat pickup, rich with punchy harmonics. This Edwards weighs 8lbs 6oz and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, comfortable action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a round medium C shape with generous shoulder in every register an an extremely thick 22 fret rosewood slab, measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .965” at the 12th. The fretboard features dot inlay and flawless stock 6105 fretwire, which has a slender vintage width yet appreciably more height and crown. The frets are flawless, playing easily in all registers up the straight neck with a modern 9 1/2” radius on the fingerboard. The scale length is 25 1/2”, and the carved bone nut measures 1 11/16“ in width. The headstock features a gold trimmed Edwards logo and set of single line Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
On the body, the stock electronics function flawlessly, with a five-way selector switch, Master Volume knob and pair of Tone knobs governing the USA-made Seymour Duncan pickup trio. The chrome hardware shines like new, and the aged plastic parts provide a subtle contrast to the white three-ply pickguard. The Burgundy Mist custom color gloss finish is showroom clean, and there's barely a scratch on the guitar.
The original padded ESP gigbag and factory paperwork is included.
