Up for sale, a 2011 Tom Anderson Guitarworks Drop Top electric guitar in exceptional condition and perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and factory paperwork. Introduced in 1990, the Drop Top offers the comfortable, ergonomic contours of a traditional Strat-style body with premium exotic hardwoods on top. This particular Drop Top features a highly figured solid koa top, with tight flame extending the length of the cut, and prominent bookmatched grain at the center seam. This jaw-dropping top is mated with a basswood body for a very smooth and balanced tonal profile. The maple neck has a scalloped fingerboard, and the neck has been baked and cured to a chocolate brown color. This treatment of the maple yields unparalleled stability and resonance. The guitar’s tonewood combination delivers full flowing and focused mids, with a rich, lush bloom and great string to string balance. The HSH pickup array includes a Tom Anderson H1 humbucker at the bridge, an SF1 single coil in the middle, and an H3 at the neck.

The H series humbuckers feature a broadband frequency response characterized by ample lows and highs while still having plenty of midrange power, never squashed or narrow, but always big, full and robust. Due to their construction, these pickups also coil split amazingly well. The toggle switch between the Volume and Tone controls functions as a Master Splitter switch, while the Push/Pull Tone pot adds the bridge pickup to positions 4 and 5 on the primary toggle for additional pickup configurations. The middle SF1 pickup is the perfect pairing to the humbuckers, with traditional single coil clarity and chime, yielding sweet, soft and complex treble content. This Drop Top is featherweight at 6lbs 10oz, and has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, spot-on intonation, and fast action.

The chocolate maple neck has a C shaped profile with slight shoulders and a shred-worthy fast feel, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret and .865” at the 12th. The scalloped fretboard features clay dot inlay and flawless jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays effortlessly up the arrow straight neck with an ideally adjusted truss rod and low action. The scale length is 25 1/2“ and the locking nut measures 1 11/16“ in width, holding tune exceptionally well against the most dynamic of dive bombs. The headstock has a clean Tom Anderson Guitarworks logo and chrome set of Anderson-branded tuners that turn smoothly. There is a slender, professionally addressed split vertically on the neck pocket, structurally sound between the two neck bolts.

On the body, the electronics function flawlessly, with a Master Volume, a Push/Pull Tone control, three-way mini toggle, and a five-way selector switch. The chrome hardware has ample shine, including the Floyd Rose vibrato and knurled knobs, and the Honey Shaded transparent gloss finish highlights the incredibly tight ripples of flame figuring on the koa top. Wear is limited to just a few faint finish scratches on the body in the clear coat of the gloss, and the neck profile is pristine save for a couple minuscule marks, with a a satin finish has been naturally buffed from use to a smooth gloss.

The original hardshell case and factory paperwork is included.
