Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 1956 Gretsch Country Club 6192 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A premier Gretsch model with a full 17" lower bout, 25 1/2" scale, and an array of golden-era Gretsch features including hump block fretboard inlays, gold hardware, Melita bridge, G tailpiece, arrow knobs, and original DeArmond Dynasonic pickups. The all maple body features light ripples of flame figuring across the entire back and sides, with lighter figuring on the top. Acoustically the guitar has plenty of note attack and snap, and the fully hollow body allows for a rich, powerful sound that translates well through the Dynasonic pickups. The bridge position is sparkling and authoritative, with full, throaty bass response and a distinct character that comes with original DeArmond pickups. When both pickups are engaged the sound is equal parts full and snappy, and the neck pickup is girthy and thick without sacrificing clarity. The guitar weighs in at 7lbs 4oz and has been professionally setup with low action and 11-50 roundwound strings.

The maple neck has a full C shaped profile with slightly more heft in the higher registers of the fretboard, while still having plenty of fullness at the nut. There is palm wear through the Sunburst on the neck profile, more prominent on the treble side, but also along the bass side edge from frets 1-8. The bound fretboard features red side dots and has been professionally refretted with slender fretwire which has been freshly leveled and crowned, showing no wear and playing cleanly in all registers. A new carved bone nut measures 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock boasts gold plated Kluson "Waffleback" tuners which still turn smoothly. The neck has been freshly reset, meeting the body at the ideal angle and providing room for adjustment on both thumbwheels of the Melita bridge.

All of the original hardware is intact on the body, including the aforementioned bridge, arrow knobs, G tailpiece, and stock gold Gretsch-branded pickguard with original bracket. There is patina on the hardware, with more gold retained on the pickups covers and Melita bridge, while the G tailpiece has been worn to the bare nickel. An extra strap button hole is present on the inside edge of the treble side cutaway, and the guitar shows light buckle rash on the back, with spiderweb lacquer checking across the entire body. The nitro lacquer Sunburst finish is original and unfaded, with a warm amber center and deep black edges. The binding is flawless with zero deterioration, and the guitars show various finish chips and scuffs, but is a fine example of a well-kept Gretsch Country Club with zero cracks or repairs.

The original Gretsch faux alligator hardshell case is included, with the "G" present on the plush red interior on the inside of the lid. All of the original latches work as they should and the case has a newer leather handle.
