Up for sale, a Pettyjohn Electronics PreDrive in like-new condition, complete with the box and paperwork. Handcrafted in Albany, Oregon, this premium boutique pedal is a complete preamp with a pedalboard-friendly stompbox form factor, equipped with a wide array of controls for maximum tonal tailoring.
Perfect as an “always on” tone sculptor at the front of a pedal chain, the PreDrive is a studio grade unit that features two musical discrete op amp chips and audiophile-grade componentry throughout, designed to dial in the perfect tone while preserving the best natural qualities of the guitar itself. Beyond the transparent tone shaping capabilities, each stage of the PreDrive delivers a different flavor of analog saturation when pushed hard, very much analog in its tonal profile, ranging from a slightly boosted clean to edge-of-overdrive bite and snarl. The PreDrive can toggle between Clean and Drive modes, and the Vari-Z switch adjusts the input impedance to better match between different guitars.
This is the PCB iteration of the PreDrive. Premium construction and components include:
-1% precision metal film resistors
-Audio grade metallized polypropylene input coupling capacitors, WIMA MKP10 series
-No electrolytic capacitors in the circuit path
-True Bypass footswitch
-Vintage-style jewel LEDs
-Separate buffered tuner output
-Transformer coupled direct output on balanced TRS jack (taken from the preamp output)
The rugged enclosure is built like an absolute tank, also made in the USA, boasting a custom hand-finished Vintage Blue Patina paint job (light relic). Beyond the factory relic, there’s barely a mark it.
The original box/packaging and paperwork are included.
