Up for sale, a Patriarch Queen hollowbody guitar in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Handcrafted in Seattle, WA, this guitar is one of a select few made each year by Patriarch founder and luthier, Adam Hanson. Patriarch guitars feature top-notch fit and finish with high-quality, hand-carved tonewoods, nitrocellulose lacquer finishes and premium pickups and hardware.
The Queen features a bookmatched carved flame maple top, Honduran mahogany back, rims and neck, and an Indian rosewood fretboard. The body is roughly 335-sized, measuring 15 3/4" across the lower bout with a body depth of just 1 5/8". The instrument's acoustic profile pairs the warmth and fundamental richness of mahogany with the articulation and note attack of maple. The Lollar Imperial humbuckers are designed in the vein of a PAF, wound to maximize frequency balance and with a slightly hotter bridge position, yielding a distinct sound in every pickup position. Extremely detailed, the pickups have sweet spongy lows, crystalline yet sweet trebles and a tailored midrange. A push/pull global coil tap at the Tone knob allows for single coil sparkle too. Featherweight at 5lbs 9oz, this Patriarch has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The mahogany neck has a very slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with well-rounded shoulders in every register and additional heft further up the fretboard, measuring .765” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features overlapping parallelogram inlay and the slender fretwire is flawless, playing cleanly up the 25” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock sports a matching flame maple veneer, and the Kluson Deluxe double-line tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with keystone buttons. There’s a small chip in the finish on the very tip of the headstock on the back.
The electronics all function as intended, with the pickups governed by a three-way pickup selector switch, Master Volume and Tone knobs, and a push/pull global coil tap located at the Tone knob. The nickel-plated pickup covers, Nashville-style Tune-o-Matic bridge, and chrome trapeze tailpiece are in great shape.
The nitro lacquer Sunburst finish highlights the tight, three-dimensional figuring in the bookmatched, carved flame maple top, and cosmetic wear includes a handful of minor dings and faint scratches on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back, as well as buckle worming extending across the back at the lower bout. The gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clena.
A Gator-brand molded hardshell case is included.
