Up for sale, a 1990's Mosrite Ventures Model Yuzo Kayama signature edition in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original case and strap. Crafted in Japan by Kurokumo, the Yuzo Kayama signature edition is based on Kurokumo's Super Custom '64 Ventures Model platform, with artist specific tweaks including brass frets, a unique three knob control layout, and a slightly deeper neck profile carve with full 1 5/8" nut width. A Japanese film star of the mid-20th century, Kayama was also known for playing psychedelic surf-inspired music on his Mosrite, and this particular Mosrite is the first of numerous Yuzo Kayama models to bear his name.

The Kurokumo-made Mosrites are among the most celebrated reissues for their feel, construction, and attention to detail. With a basswood body and prominent German Carve just like a genuine vintage example, this Mosrite features a pair of stock overwound single coil pickups that deliver plenty of twang and sparkle in the bridge position, with richer, rounded textures when toggling to the neck pickup. Weighing 8lbs 15oz, this Mosrite has been setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders, measuring, .840” deep just beyond the volute at the 2nd fret, and .885” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark cut of this tonewood, featuring fret edge binding and flawless brass fretwire. The guitar has a 24 3/4" scale length, and the fretboard is 1 5/8" wide at the zero fret, just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock features Mosrite-branded Kluson-style tuners that have the classic '60s look and hold up well with vibrato use.

The body features original single coil pickups with embossed Mosrite covers, governed by a three-way pickup selector switch with screw-on tip. The '64 look is rounded out with a white three-ply pickguard and a trio of smooth knobs, offering a unique Volume/Volume/Tone control configuration. The Vibramute vibrato and bridge is a faithful reissue with the correct sandcast base, and the unit has a smooth feel and an incredibly sensitive response. The gloss Seafoam Green finish is stunningly clean, framed by multi-ply body binding with barely a scratch on it. The neck profile is equally flawless.

The original Mosrite-branded black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original matching Yuzo Kayama strap.
