Up for sale, a Mosrite acoustic electric guitar in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An exceedingly rare, Japanese-made iteration of the Ventures Model body shape, this acoustic electric features a bridge position Bartolini active single coil pickup, large batwing rosewood bridge, and carved ebony knobs. Virtually without catalog reference or other known examples, this Mosrite is a true anomaly, featuring the essential deep German Carve on the figured maple top. The pickup delivers a snappy, articulate and dynamically responsive tone via the Bartolini, and the guitar is featherweight at 6lbs 7oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Mosrite boasts 10-46 strings and slinky action.
The neck has a D-shaped profile carve with quite a bit of substance, measuring .840” deep just beyond the prominent volute at the 2nd fret, and .900 at the 12th. The dark bound rosewood board has fret edge binding and flawless original medium jumbo fretwire. The neck is straight and the guitar plays cleanly in every register. The nut is hand-carved from bone, measuring a full 1 3/4" in width. The headstock features the Mosrite logo oriented vertically, with Kluson-style tuning machines and oversized tuner posts.
The simple electronics function as they should, with Master Volume and Tone knobs for the Bartolini pickup. A second pickup was previously installed in the soundhole (with the soundhole's forward edge shaved slightly wider to accommodate). Visible through the soundhole, the large Mosrite of California label is intact. The top features a rich ambered two-tone Sunburst gloss, highlighting curly flame figuring, particularly on the bass side. Cosmetic wear includes a couple long scuffs on the back, light buckle rash central to the lower bout, some additional minor marks, mostly relegated to the back, and some localized scuffing on the back of the treble side body horn. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
